Heat Merchants Group trades in 42 outlets around Ireland as Heat Merchants and Tubs & Tiles. The group has 30 Heat Merchants branches and 12 Tubs & Tiles showrooms supported by a central warehouse and distribution hub based in Athlone.
An exciting opportunity has arisen at Heat Merchants Group for a newly qualified accountant or a part-qualified accountant in the final stages of qualification. This is a 12 month fixed term contract with potential to develop into a full time role at the end of the fixed term contract.
This position is based in our Business Support Offices in Athlone, Co Westmeath.
This role would suit someone with industry experience and who wants to broaden their knowledge and career prospects or who wants to make the move from practice into industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide support for the Finance team which will involve but not limited to:
- Assist with the preparation of Monthly Management Accounts, working with tight deadlines
- Budgeting and forecasting
- Bank payments and treasury functions
- Preparation of balance sheet reconciliations including bank reconciliations
- VAT, CSO and RCT returns
- Daily branch banking support for the accounts receivable team.
- Assisting with the preparation of annual statutory financial accounts and audit
- Cash and Treasury responsibilities
- Ad hoc reporting and finance duties as they arise.

Qualifications/Skills Required:
- 3 years experience working in an accounting role
- High Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with Payroll software packages and submissions
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Possess strong organisational, and analytical abilities
- Must be able to work under deadline pressure
- Works well, both in a team and under one’s own initiative
- Confidentiality and discretion
